Meet the team

What began with a team of 4 has grown into a vibrant group of 9 dedicated professionals, committed to holistic, client-centred care that addresses not just physical needs, but emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing.

Through ongoing collaboration, transparency, and a shared commitment to improving health outcomes, we have built strong working relationships with Te Marae Ora, community services, and private general practitioners. Together, we ensure our clients receive coordinated, seamless care -from clinical treatment to in-home support. Our services are complementary to the local health sector and fill a much-needed gap that locals and visitors alike are in need of.

We don’t just provide care, we help create a sense of safety and wellbeing.

Since our inception in 2022, our dedicated team is currently made up of two nurses and seven caregivers. We’ve delivered care to over 50 international visitors, in addition to our 100+ local clients. We take pride in being a trusted point of contact for travellers in need of support during their time on Rarotonga.

We don’t just provide care -we help create a sense of safety and wellbeing that allows every visitor to truly enjoy their time in our island paradise.

The perfect partnership

In 2023, what began as a simple conversation blossomed into a meaningful partnership with Pacific Homecare Services. Pacific Homecare was seeking a way to extend its reach to the Cook Islands -giving back to the community that was part of its own origin story. For us at Toku Nei Ora’anga Ora, the opportunity to collaborate with an organisation that shares our values of compassion, cultural connection, and client-centred care was a natural fit.

Testimonials

“The service, reassurance, compassion and care shown by Tarina who I asked to help my Aunty care for her husband in his time of need on his return to Rarotonga for palliative care was invaluable. At such a hard time when my Uncle wanted to be back at his home in Rarotonga to live out his last days, Tarina was there to make that more manageable for my Aunty. Rarotonga Home Healthcare Services is a needed service and I’m extremely grateful that Maui and Tarina acknowledged this need and have dedicated their time, experience and expertise to help our community care for our people in their own homes which is what my Uncle really wished. Without Tarina’s help it would have been a much more difficult and uncomfortable time for my Uncle and my Aunty. There’s not enough words to express the deep gratitude our family has for this service. Te Atua te aro’a Rarotonga Home Healthcare Services - Meitaki ranuinui for being there.”

“I would like to say thank you to Rarotonga Health Services for taking such good care of my father John Mayor while living in Rarotonga, you have been a godsend to him over the last few years after the passing of his partner.

You were amazing organising his caregiver when he needed it the most and also keeping myself updated whenever he was in hospital or when you were concerned for him, we as the family of John Mayor cannot thank you enough.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

— Susan

“My sincere thanks for the exceptional service I received from Toku Nei Oraanga Ora Rarotonga Home Healthcare Service. The whole experience from an initial assessment to transport to the Doctors, collection of a script and offering to pick up fresh fruit along the way before returning me to my Villa halfway around the island was beyond my expectations. I also received two followup phone calls. I thoroughly recommend their professional and friendly service in a time of need.”

— Sue

My dad, was a proudly independent 92-year-old when his health started to deteriorate. Eventually, he was unable to drive and had difficulty walking without the aid of a Zimmer frame due to neuropathy and balance issues.

From March 2025 until his passing in March 2026, Rarotonga Home Healthcare was engaged to look after my dad’s basic needs at his home in Betela. He started with three visits per week, which eventually increased to up to three visits per day by both carers and nurses.

The care provided by Maui, Tarina, and their team of wonderful carers was simply amazing. They were so kind, friendly, and incredibly patient with my dad, who could be a bit difficult to deal with at times. They always went above and beyond.

Even though I am based in Auckland, communication about my dad’s health status was completely seamless. I could email, text, or phone them at any time. Honestly, without their homecare service, I don't know how I would have managed looking after him from afar.

The team was also there when my dad passed, and I am so profoundly grateful that he was not alone when he took his final breath. Afterward, Tarina and Maui liaised with CI Funeral Services to safely move my dad’s body to the morgue, and they even gave his house a thorough clean before my arrival in Rarotonga. All of these extra touches made an incredibly difficult time just that much easier for our family.

Rarotonga Home Healthcare offers an awesome and invaluable service for families who need help caring for their loved ones. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

-Julian
